Ofsted Reports and Response

Falcons Learning Ofsted Inspection Report - April 2024

Welcome to Falcons Learning’s Response to the Ofsted Inspection Report

Dear Parents, Carers, Staff, and Students.

Following the recent Ofsted inspection from 30th April to 2nd May 2024, we want to address the findings and outline our commitment to improvement. While our overall effectiveness has been rated as "Requires Improvement", we are dedicated to making the necessary changes to enhance our school environment.

Positive Findings:

1. Behaviour and Attitudes:

The report highlights the positive relationships between staff and students and the supportive atmosphere at Falcons Learning. This is a testament to the dedication and skills of our staff in creating a safe and nurturing environment.

2. Personal Development:

Our emphasis on personal development is recognised, with students taking responsibility for projects that build their self-esteem and future aspirations. Our careers education programme, utilising the Gatsby benchmarks, prepares students well for life beyond school.

Areas for Improvement:

1. Quality of Education:

While we have strong foundations in core subjects like English and mathematics, other areas of the curriculum require more development. We will focus on creating a well-sequenced curriculum across all subjects to ensure cohesive and progressive learning.

2. Leadership and Management:

Our leadership and management practices need strengthening to ensure consistent compliance with independent school standards. We are committed to enhancing our governance structures and internal monitoring systems.

Specific Actions We Will Take:

1. Improvement of Leadership Structures:

We have improved our Governance structures and recruited an effective and enthusiastic Governing Body. Our Governors are drawn from various careers to ensure they have the skills to challenge and inform our direction. Meetings and actions have already taken place and will continue each half term. We are also advertising for a new teacher to increase senior leader capacity by 20%.

2. Curriculum Development:

We are working diligently to develop and implement a comprehensive, well-structured curriculum that integrates formal classroom learning with practical applications. The planning for this is well advanced, with delivery projected to start in the new academic year.

3. Health, Safety, and Record Keeping:

We will implement robust systems to monitor and evaluate health and safety policies and ensure meticulous record-keeping for attendance, admissions, and student behaviour. A systemic audit and checking methodology is now in place.

4. Fire Safety Compliance:

Immediate measures have been taken to address fire safety concerns and ensure proper labelling. This confirms that proper fire evacuation procedures are in place.

5. Material Change Application:

In light of the feedback, we have withdrawn our material change application to focus on meeting the current standards before considering expansion.

Commitment to Improvement

We are dedicated to making Falcons Learning a place where every student can thrive academically and personally. The feedback from this inspection provides us with a clear roadmap for improvement, and we are taking immediate action to address the highlighted areas.

We appreciate the support of our entire school community as we work towards these improvements. Together, we can ensure that Falcons Learning not only meets but exceeds the standards expected of us.

Parent Feedback Meeting

To further discuss the Ofsted report and our plans for improvement, we will be holding a Parent Feedback Meeting at 6:30 pm on Monday, 8th July. This will be an opportunity for parents and carers to provide feedback, ask questions, and engage in a constructive dialogue about the future of our school.

Thank you for your continued trust and cooperation.
